How to Decorate a Home in Southwest Style
"Southwestern interior design is a blend of Native American, Spanish and Mexican cultures, and is a decor that is often seen in Arizona and other southwestern regions of the United States."
Decorating in the southwest in relation to your surroundings does not have to cost a lot of money. Use the furniture you already have and change the look with paint, textures and accessorizing. The walls are a great place to start in changing up your theme, paint colors should be warm as the sunny southwest. Most southwestern homes, especially in Arizona are an adobe style structure, with thick walls; the walls should be painted with lighter colors of gold, white, mocha or any other palette of colors as long as it is not too strong. I have found that a terracotta works quite well with my color palette. Adding accessories such as iron, pottery, lamps, art pieces/wrought iron wall hangings and rugs add that southwest touch to any room.
Remember, it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to change the theme of your home, just add in a few pieces at a time, a few paint buckets and some added textures and you are on your way to a beautiful transformation.
